JOHANNESBURG - More than one intervention is needed to deal with human trafficking.

And South Africa needs to tackle the problem urgently, before it gets out of hand.

These are the views of Professor Joel Quirk of Wits University, who wants to see a range of solutions to deal with the complex issue.

A group of 32 Ethiopians are in court after escaping from a house in Lombardy East in Johannesburg, suspected of being trafficked to South Africa.

Speaking to eNCA, politics professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg Joel Quirk said human trafficking is multi layered and more innovative ways are needed to deal with the matter

"I think if we accept that human trafficking is not one thing but it's kind of a cluster of things we need to think of solutions to keep up with the problem," he said.

According to Quirk there issue related child sexual exploitation which also need to be dealt with.
