Mkhwebane impeachment | Thousands spent on Public Protector's image

CAPE TOWN - Almost R150-million has been spent on legal fees since suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane took office in October 2016.

And tens of thousands have been spent on consultants to counter negative publicity she was receiving.

These are just some of the issues to emerge from the Parliamentary inquiry into her fitness to hold office.

The Public Protector Legal Services Manager, Neels van der Merwe, continued giving evidence.

He shed light on how millions were spent on legal fees, often on cases they lost.

The hearing continues next week.
