Mkhwebane Impeachment | Dyantyi denies Mkhwebane's accusations

JOHANNESBURG - Section 194 Inquiry Chair Richard Dyantyi has denied trying to extort money from suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

Mkhwebane accused Dyantyi along with ANC Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina and the late Tina Joemat-Pettersson of trying to extort her in order to make the inquiry go away.

"The less said about that, the better. I don't intend to dignify those scandalous allegations because everybody else who has been following this inquiry from day one will be very clear that we are on a fact-finding mission here," he said.

Meanwhile, the committee says it hopes to present a completed report into the suspended public protector's fitness to hold office by next month.

It has been a year since Busisiwe Mkhwebane was suspended.

Dyantyi says a new approach has been adopted to ensure the inquiry is completed by July.
