JOHANNESBURG - Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni wants to see action taken, to prevent the hijacking and illegal occupation of buildings.
Ntshavheni says national government is ready to assist the city of Johannesburg, following the death of over 70 people in Marshalltown.
Mtshavheni said, "it is a time that as we reflect and commit that an incident like this does not recur.. and that as nation we have deep conversation to say the eviction of people in condemned building is not inhumane is the protection of life."
"We must have conversation about what we do about those who receive subsidies in their rural building homes when they come to the city....but it is also about what do we do with those who are fleeing to our country on how we accommodate them....but also it is about us as community to say if you see crime take place you notify authorities that must respond to make sure that eviction happen timeously."
"It must also mean that as neighbours illegal connection of electricity does not take place."
