Middelburg farmer allegedly paid for aid in double murder

MIDDELBURG - In a murder case that has gripped two communities, police are under pressure to produce key evidence.

Middelburg farmer Reinardt Steyn and his co-accused continue their bail application.

They are accused of burning two men alive after accusing them of stealing sheep.

The bail bid was postponed to allow the state to obtain outstanding evidence.

A payment of R50,000 allegedly ties four men to the brutal killings of suspected stock thieves.

However, questions have emerged about whether that payment was ever made.
