Mashatile to assess state of Giyani water projects

JOHANNESBURG - Deputy President Paul Mashatile will inspect Limpopo water infrastructure projects on Friday.

He will assess progress made to improve water services in Giyani.

Residents in the area have been struggling without water for years.

The multi-billion rand Giyani water project promised relief to at least 55 villages.

But, it's been a source of controversy for years with allegations of corruption and multiple delays.

Mashatile is visiting the project in his capacity as Chair of the task Team looking into the water crisis.

He will be accompanied by Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina.

They will also visit the Nandoni Dam Pump Station and a reticulation project at Nwakhuwani.
