Mapisa-Nqakula expected to hand herself over to police

JOHANNESBURG - National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has lost her urgent court bid to block her arrest.

The High Court ruled nothing is stopping the state from arresting Mapisa-Nqakula.

This is related to allegations of corruption and money laundering during her tenure as defence minister.

Accountability Now Director Paul Hoffman weighed in on the matter.

"The court has come to the correct conclusion in the matter.

"It would indeed create chaos in the criminal justice administration if any panicky suspect in a criminal investigation were to be allowed to run off to court and obtain an interdict to prevent the prosecution services from doing its work," he said.
