BETHLEHEM - South African Communist Party General Secretary Solly Mapaila says the party is calling for the reconfiguration of the Tripartite Alliance.
He was speaking during May Day celebrations taking place in Bethlehem in the Free State.
Mapaila said, "we are committed to work with workers' to strengthen and widen working class organisation and unity across the board."
"We want say to the working class it is your right to exercise your own independent power at all times in all situations and enter into any alliances that you so wish."
"Therefore we have made a call as communist party for a reconfiguration of the alliance into our country, to maximise the importance of working class power and the critical tool of utilising political power is in our hands as a movement."
"It is therefore critical that this question of the reconfiguration of the alliance to secure the unity of workers and to assert the aspirations of the working class as enshrined in our common program of the national democratic revolution."
