BLOEMFONTEIN - The newly-elected Mangaung mayor Papi Mokoena says his immediate priority is to hire competent officials to help turn around the struggling municipality.
The metro had been without a mayor since the resignation of Mxolisi Siyonzana last month.
Siyonzana, his deputy and the speaker were recalled for their poor service delivery record, according to the ANC.
Mokoena has promised better services to Mangaung residents.
"The plan is first to try and restore a little bit of order in the municipality," he said.
"The second part is relating to the finances of the municipality. We have to find a plan in which we can ensure that our expenditure is not out of line."
