CAPE TOWN - Malusi Booi has been removed as a Cape Town mayoral committee member with immediate effect.
Booi was the mayco member for human settlements but was suspended last week following allegations of fraud and corruption.
Laptops were confiscated from his office during a police raid on Thursday.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said that Booi has not been charged but a discussion with police on their investigation has revealed enough to warrant his removal.
The mayor has also pledged the city's full support for the investigation.
The DA's James Vos will continue to act as a mayco member for Human Settlements in the City of Cape Town.
