Mahikeng Hospital staff in hot water for placing newborn babies in boxes

MAHIKENG - North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha says line managers at the Mahikeng Provincial Hospital's maternity ward must account.

The provincial Health Department is investigating incidents of newborn babies being placed in cardboard boxes at the health facility.

The incident came to light following a Facebook post showing images of newborns wrapped and put in brown boxes at the hospital.

"This incident of putting babies in card boxes, is not allowed and there is nowhere in any procedure where it is approved," he said.
