GQEBRHA - Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane is taking President Cyril Ramaphosa, the SIU, and the University of Fort Hare to court.

He is seeking to urgently interdict the SIU from continuing its probe into allegations of maladministration and impropriety at the University.

Mabuyane also wants the President's decision to issue a proclamation declared unlawful and invalid.

He argues the proclamation falls outside some sections of the SIU Act.

The matter arises from an SIU report, alleging Mabuyane received favours and special treatment while a student at the university.

Since the allegations surfaced, there've been calls for Mabuyane to resign over the scandal.
