JOHANNESBURG - A prisoner awaiting trial is on the run in Limpopo.
Patrick Mahlaela escaped from custody on Monday.
He was appearing in court on four counts of rape committed between 2015 and 2016.
The 37-year-old allegedly raped his victims in the veld.
The circumstances surrounding the escape are being investigated.
Police say an additional count of escaping from custody will be added to his charge sheet.
They're appealing to anyone who might have information about Mahlaela's whereabouts to come forward.
