JOHANNESBURG - The Law Society of South Africa is calling on citizens to come forward and have their wills drafted for free this coming week.
The country marks National Wills Week from Monday until Friday, 16 September.
The Law Society says you should draft a will even if you don't have many assets.
It's estimated that over 70-percent of South Africans pass away without a valid will.
The Law Society of South Africa's Joanne Anthony-Gooden said, "the important challenge is that for this week starting from tomorrow until Friday, everyone in South Africa is invited..."
"You can make an appointment and get your will drafted for free."
"One of the most significant factors is that if you die without a will, your estate is going to be devolved."
"It means that the executor, doesn't necessary have shown anyone who he wants his estate to go to."
"It is not difficult to draft your will, you don't need to have estate of hundreds of thousands of rand, you might just have a car and a bank account... you can get yourself a free basic will by going to LLSA website."
"We want to work with the communities, to assist and power the communities."
