Lamola vows to bring Gupta brothers back to SA

CAPE TOWN - Justice Minister Ronald Lamola is making a bold promise.

During a heated debate in Parliament, he vowed to bring back the fugitive Gupta brothers from the UAE.

But opposition parties criticised government.

They accused it of not only failing to bring back the Guptas, but also another fugitive -- Shepherd Bushiri.

Earlier this year, the UAE rejected South Africa's application to extradite the controversial brothers.

Brett Herron of the Good Party, who sponsored Tuesday's urgent motion, expressed deep concern.

He described the failure to extradite the Guptas as a significant setback.

He believes this has raised doubts about the public's trust in the justice system and state capture prosecutions.
