KZN floods | Widespread destruction in northern parts of province

DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance department is assessing damage caused by heavy rains this weekend.

At least five people, including a one-year-old, have died with scores more missing.

Provincial Disaster Management teams are helping those affected.

Provincial CoGTA spokesperson, Siboniso Mngadi, said all relevant departments are working together to assess the situation.

"Infrastructure like power lines have been destroyed," he said.

"We will continue with the assessment."
