UMLAZI - A distressed KwaZulu-Natal family wants to see action taken against paramedics.
They accuse the first responders of refusing to help Thembeka Sikhosana, who suffers from heart problems.
The family says paramedics told them it wasn’t their responsibility to carry the patient out, demanding they do it themselves.
The Provincial Department of Health issued a statement on Monday announcing the suspension of the two paramedics and that an investigation is underway.
Attempts to get further clarity from the department were unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, the Public Service Association in KZN has welcomed the suspension.
But they want the health department to look into why there was no police escort.
Sikhosana has since been admitted to the Prince Mshiyeni Hospital.
