Meanwhile, inside the Kruger, many rivers crisscrossing the park have swollen and burst their banks.
Several camps inside the reserve have been evacuated as a precaution.
Nkomazi Municipality mayor Phindile Pertunia Magagula said, "we have 269 footbridges that have been washed away by the rain, and we have 18 big bridges that have been washed away, you can imagine how difficult it is for those communities to cross and try to buy food, they are unable to do that."
