CAPE TOWN - Klawer train driver Daniel Smit, accused of murdering 13-year-old Jerobejin van Wyk in February 2022, says he will plead guilty.
The 58-year-old handed in a plea explanation to the Western Cape High Court stating why he intends to do so.
The State alleges Smit assaulted and stabbed the boy to death, dismembered his body and burned certain parts of his remains.
Smit, who was sent for mental evaluation, was found to be fit to stand trial .
He earlier abandoned his bail application and will remain in custody until his next appearance.
