PRETORIA - Mthokosizi Thwala has questioned the authenticity of a statement that suggests Senzo Meyiwa was killed as he tried to stop a fight between Zandi Khumalo and her boyfriend Longwe Twala.
Reading from a statement attributed to Meyiwa’s brother-in-law Mlungisi Hlope, defence lawyer Adv Zandile Mshololo told Mthokosizi Thwala that this statement is contained in the second docket.

The statement by Hlope contradicts claims by those who were present that Meyiwa was killed by an armed intruder.
After two weeks on the witness stand, Thwala wrapped up his testimony on Friday.

It’s still not clear who the state will call when the trial resumes on Monday.
But it’s already emerged in court that the Khumalo sisters -- Zandi and Kelly -- as well as Logwe Twala are among those who have been lined up to take to the witness stand.
