PRETORIA - Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng is expected to deliver a ruling on Thursday on whether confessions by Accused 1 and 2 in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial are admissible in court.
After five months of contentious evidence and damning revelations, the trial-within-a-trial has wrapped up.
Defence lawyer Sipho Ramosepele argued both Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi were tortured into signing prepared statements confessing to the soccer star's murder.
The admissibility of those confessions will have a major bearing on the main case.
According to the state, Sibiya allegedly confessed to Mbotho on the same day, a claim he denies.
He also claims that Mbotho ignored crucial evidence of his injuries which he says were the result of torture by police.
