JOHANNESBURG - The organisation Freedom Under Law has welcomed President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to suspend Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe.
In July, the Judicial Service Commission recommended Hlophe's suspension after he was found to be abusing his position.
It's understood he tried to influence two Constitutional Court Justices dealing with cases involving former President Jacob Zuma.
Earlier this year, Freedom Under Law expressed concern over the delay in dealing with this matter.
Hlope's suspension is with immediate effect, granted he has completed all of his part-heard court matters.
