Joshlin kidnapping trial | All accused plead not guilty

SALDANHA BAY - The kidnapping and human trafficking trial of three co-accused, in the disappearance of Joshlin Smith began its first day in Saldanha Bay on Monday.

Joshlin's mother Raquel 'Kelly' Smith, her boyfriend Jacquen Appollis and Steveno van Rhyn, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Joshlin, who was 6-years-old at the time, went missing in Middelpos, on the 19th of February, 2024.

The state alleges the accused are guilty of trafficking in persons for the purpose of exploitation. It's asking for the harshest sentence to be imposed, life in prison
