Joburg Water Shutdown | Some systems stabalise overnight

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Water says some systems have stabilised overnight and water flows have improved.

This follows a 58-hour water outage last week for planned maintenance.

The systems that remain critical include Crown Gardens, Commando and the Randburg/Roodepoort region.

Water tankers will continue to be deployed to affected areas.

Meanwhile, Rand Water is warning Johannesburg residents that airlocks in pipelines could further delay the restoration of water.

It says airlocks are inevitable after the system has been empty for days.

Simply put, an airlock is air in a pipeline that prevents the flow of water.

The utility says the system may have to be decommissioned to release any airlocks that occurred during the maintenance process.
