JOHANNESBURG – Joburg residents are bracing themselves for an eight-hour water outage amid the ongoing crisis in the city.
Joburg Water, City Power and Rand Water are expected to carry out urgent maintenance on the Eikenhof Pumping Station on Sunday 17 November.
The maintenance is scheduled to take place from 8am to 4pm.
The announcement comes after the city implemented water throttling which came into effect on the 14 November as part of efforts to allow reservoirs to recover.

In a joint media statement, the entities say the maintenance work was triggered by a recent City Power assessment which found defects at the Eikenhof Substation.
The entities say it will take several hours for Rand Water to start pumping at the normal rate.
Areas that will be affected include the southern and central parts of Johannesburg.
