JOHANNESBURG - The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation is slamming the City of Joburg for pointing fingers at NGOs.
The city laid the blame for the downtown fire on organisations like the Socio-Economic Rights Institute (SERI).

SERI has previously taken the city to court to stop forced evictions from buildings.
Public Safety MMC Mgcini Tshwaku seemingly blamed the fire on this litigation.
But the Kathrada Foundation says the city should be held accountable for not doing its due diligence.

It's also questioning the late arrival of fire engines on the scene.
The foundation says while leaders fight over who runs the city, no one is actually doing the job.
It's calling for a change of political and administrative leadership.
