JOHANNESBURG - Former President Jacob Zuma reported back at the Escourt Prison on Friday, was processed, and then released via a 'special remission' process.
The decision was taken to address overcrowding in prisons.
Correctional Services Commissioner Makgothi Thobakgale responded to assertions that the Escourt prison was not overcrowded.
There's speculation the Escourt Correctional Centre had three open beds.
Thobakgale spoke to JJ Tabane on Power to Truth.
"The overall system is overcrowded," Thobakgale said.
