JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Roads MMC Kenny Kunene has announced plans to fill potholes in the city in collaboration with private sector companies.
Johannesburg Roads Agency CEO Zweli Nyathi has welcomed the partnership saying this will help fast-track repairs.
"This partnership will take us a long way because as government we can only do so much but with these private partnerships, they enable us to be able to move forward and to cover a large scale," he said.
"We do our own assessments and our own potholes in all the regions of the City of Johannesburg however when you have the public sector partnering with the private sector then it gives us a large scale of how we maintain all these kinds of things that we have, especially when you have all these adverse weather issues and infrastructure that is aging."
Meanwhile, the city warning residents not to fix potholes themselves as that is illegal.
