Indefinite stage 5 blackouts implemented

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa is currently on Level 5 rolling blackouts and there's no end in sight for now.

Eskom says there's an unusually high demand this weekend.

That coupled with the breakdown of a generating unit each at three power stations means you will not be enjoying any downgrade, anytime soon.

Koeberg's Unit 1, meanwhile, is offline for maintenance, this will constrain the grid for six months to a year.
