CAPE TOWN - Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis says vehicles will continue to be impounded in line with the National Land Transport Act.
The City and Santaco reached an agreement on Thursday, to end the violence during the strike.
Hill-Lewis said, "impoundments will continue under the NLTA offences: no operating licenses, no drivers license, no PDP, no roadworthiness, driving off route."
"Over the next 14 days the taxi task team will begin the difficult work of determining the list of minor and major offences." "Major offences will be focused on those things that impact on passenger safety."
"Our number one priority is keeping our passengers safe."
"Things that threaten passenger safety will remain offences and other minor offences will not be impoundable."
"Santaco if they have what they believe impoundments for minor offences they can bring those notices and we will work through them together."
