JOHANNESBURG - Unisa has been placed under administration.
Ihron Rensburg will take over the role, powers and duties of the council and management for 24 months.
Rensburg served as Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Johannesburg between 2006 and 2017.
He will report his findings to Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande or delegated officials of the department.
This puts an end to a dispute between Nzimande and university vice-chancellor Puleng LenkaBula.
Earlier this month, LenkaBula interdicted Nzimande from placing the institution under administration.
This is unfair

What is the effect of this action on the credibility of UNISA qualifications?

Utter disgrace. So many people worked so hard for their degrees. #voetsekanc

What does that honestly mean for the degrees? Are they now worthless?
