IEC says DA's call-out to the US 'unacceptable'

JOHANNESBURG - The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has called out the Democratic Alliance (DA) for reaching out to the United States of America.

The DA reached out to country to come help observe the upcoming national elections.

The IEC has called this unacceptable.

IEC CEO Sy Mamabolo says that they do not mind observers during the 29 May elections.

However, according to Mamabolo, this has to be done through appropriate multi-lateral institutions.

Meanwhile, Mamabolo say that the voters roll will be certified on Tuesday. 

Over 27 million voters have registered to vote, this is the highest figure since the dawn of democracy.
