Hundreds of substance abuse patients in Gauteng left stranded

JOHANNESBURG - A storm is brewing between the National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union and the Gauteng Department of Social Development. 

About 175 workers at two Life Nkanyisa centres are facing a bleak future after their facilities shut doors in May this year.

This has left hundreds of substance abuse patients stranded.

Nehawu has accused both the Department and Life Nkanyisa of using the affected workers and patients as sacrificial lambs, with regards to an alleged multi-million rand fraud in their eight year relationship.
