Helen Joseph Hospital | Probe into claims of mistreatment

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Health has launched an investigation into the Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg.

This in response to a viral video posted by a patient, Tom London.

His video shows non-functioning medical equipment and poor infrastructure.

He also describes the poor state of communication between doctors and patients.

London says at times patients are left unattended for hours on end.

But Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko doesn't quite agree with some of the claims.

"In all those days that he has been here he has been getting the treatment from the team. The COO, HOD and clinical managers have been briefing me about the days that they have been assisting him," she said. 

"He was well when he left, when he arrived he was not well. He received all the best treatment that he could get in any hospital including the Medi-Clinic now where he is. What he is getting there, we would get the same treatment."
