Heavy rains continue to lash Newcastle

KWAZULU-NATAL - Heavy rains continue to flood the northern KwaZulu-Natal town of Newcastle.

Last week, floods caused extensive damage to buildings, infrastructure and homes.

More heavy rains have caused water levels in most rivers to rise since Thursday.

Residents woke up to floods again on Friday.

So far there have been no reports of fatalities.

Those affected are being housed at a community hall.

Community members are providing food, warm clothes and blankets.
