JOHANNESBURG - It's going to be a rainy day across parts of the country.
The South African Weather Service has issued an Orange Level 9 warning for heavy and destructive rainfall in parts of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
Areas including eThekwini, Richmond, Msunduzi and Ilembe are set to experience rainfall that could cause widespread flooding of roads, settlements and bridges.
The service also anticipates widespread displacement of communities and prolonged disruption to essential services like water and electricity.
An Orange Level 5 warning for disruptive rainfall has been issued for the eastern parts of Mpumalanga and the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape which will continue into Friday morning.
Level 2 warnings have been issued for parts of Limpopo and the Free State while Gauteng is set to experience scattered showers and thundershowers.
