Health minister to participate in NHI debate

PARLIAMENT - Health Minister Joe Phaahla is to take part in Tuesday's debate on the National Health Insurance Bill in the National Assembly.

The proposed legislation has met with criticism, with some health experts saying their concerns and recommendations have been disregarded.

The bill, which was introduced in August 2019, seeks to ensure that every South African has access to all-inclusive healthcare.

Parliament's portfolio committee on Health adopted the bill a few weeks ago.
