JOHANNESBURG - Celebrations quickly soured after it was revealed that a number of the mothers giving birth to Christmas babies were underage teenagers.
Among the youngest was a 13-year-old girl in Limpopo.
The 28-year-old father of her child has since been arrested.
The alarming reports have brought into sharp focus whether communities are doing enough to protect young girls from sexual abuse or exploitation.
