JOHANNESBURG - Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Sihle Zikalala says they have processed 25 expropriation applications for land that will be used by Eskom.
This is known as Eskom servitudes.
The move will allow the power utility to expand its transmission infrastructure in all provinces.
Zikalala was speaking at a briefing earlier in Pretoria.

"As the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, we met with the Minister of Electricity early this month to discuss the pressing matter of strengthening the electricity grid as the nation continues to deal with issues of power challenges," he said.
"As the custodian of state properties, we have heightened the need to urgently acquire property for the expansion of Eskom transmission infrastructure. We are also expeditating the expropriation application for Eskom servitude."
