Gordhan died in the early hours of Friday aged 75.
Gordhan served as South Africa's Minister of Finance and later as Minister of Public Enterprises during a tumultuous period known as the state capture years.
This period was marked by significant corruption and political interference.
Despite the challenges and pressures he faced, Gordhan's Deputy in the Finance Portfolio, Mcebisi Jonas says Gordhan was notable for his efforts to resist and push back against the forces driving state capture.
