Gold One operations expected to resume on Wednesday

JOHANNESBURG - Operations at Gold One Mine in Springs are expected to resume on Wednesday.

Mine owners halted production last Thursday citing security threats.

This as the conflict between workers and mine management continues.

Workers are calling for union AMCU to be formally recognised as their representative.

The union says it has more members but is not recognised due to a closed-shop agreement.

NUM has now terminated the 2012 agreement and a ballot is expected to identify unions.

AMCU has meanwhile approached the court to force NUM to fast-track that process.
