PIETERMARITZBURG - The notorious Glebelands eight have finally been sentenced for the crimes they committed at the hostel between 2014 and 2016.
The hitmen appeared in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Thursday, where six of them received life terms.
Meanwhile, former police officer Bhekukwazi Mdweshu -- who masterminded the crimes -- received a 10-year sentence.
Families of the victims said they’re disappointed by the outcome.
Most of the victims were killed execution-style in broad daylight, which the judge highlighted when handing down sentencing.
The NPA has welcomed the sentencing.
