OLDENBURG - A German court has issued an arrest warrant for disgraced former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste after he failed to show up for his trial in Germany.
eNCA has reliably learned that the Regional Court of Oldenburg issued the warrant about two weeks ago.
Jooste’s lawyer Bernd Gross told the court in April that his client was unable to travel because his passport could be used as part of an arrangement with South African authorities.
Jooste faces criminal charges, including five counts of accounting fraud between 2011 and 2014, that were reportedly committed at various subsidiaries of the company.
