JOHANNESBURG - Nhlanhla Tshabalala blames himself as a man for the murder of his niece Mpho Msauli.

The 27-year-old was shot dead after refusing to accept a stranger's advances.

Tshabalala says more focus needs to be placed on the boy child.

"As a male, I put the blame on us. Always we talk about the girl child. Take a girl child to work and do this for the girl child.

"But when you bring up that girl child you bring her up for who? But if you don’t build a boy there is something that is missing," he said.

"As a man, we need to hold the boy child’s hand to show him the right way."
