Gautrain pursuing legal action against illegal borehole drilling

JOHANNESBURG - The Gautrain management plans to pursue legal action against the owners of Hillside Village in Killarney.

This after illegal drilling activity on the property damaged the train service’s underground infrastructure.

The provincial transport department says the drilling activity was not approved following the Gauteng Transport Infrastructure Act.

The City of Johannesburg says it will strictly enforce regulations for the use of groundwater.

The City says those seeking to drill for water should consult with a registered drilling company that has experience and knowledge of regulations and by-laws.
