Gauteng school placements | GDE says hundreds of pupils placed this week

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Education says it has placed hundreds of pupils over the last week.

But this is not in line with experiences of Diepsloot parents who are still waiting to place their children.

They say they've been told schools are at full capacity and no more pupils can be accommodated.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said it's the department's responsibility to ensure that children are in class.

"What we've been doing in Diepsloot is to continue to place them as they come.

"But because schools are so full in Diepsloot, we have overstretched all the schools," he said.
