JOHANNESBURG - Fighting crime is a priority of the Gauteng government.
That is according to premier Panyaza Lesufi, who was speaking at the launch of the Crime Prevention Wardens.
Lesufi says 6,000 young people will be recruited to the force.
"It was almost five months ago in this particular room we made an announcement as part of the vision of Gauteng," he says.
"The announcement was to fight corruption, crime, lawlessness and vandalism.
"As the new administration we have identified crime as a priority that we need to confront and ensure we implement our resolution," he said.
