JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng government is open to buying any form of energy from independent producers to curb power cuts.
That's the word from Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, who says he will buy energy to ensure essential services are not disrupted, and that the provincial economy reaches growth-level targets.
However, Lesufi says independent producers must not extort the province by overcharging for power.
The Premier was giving the keynote address at the Gauteng Energy Crisis Response Expo.
