Gauteng health woes worsen

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Health MEC along with the department's entire leadership and management, must be removed, that’s the view of a governance expert and other critics who say the dismal audit outcomes, are a direct reflection of an absence of accountability across the board.

The Auditor-General’s latest report shows R2.7-billion in irregular expenditure,R17-million in fruitless and wasteful expenditure, and material losses amounting to a further R2.7-billion.
