It's part of the all-important Finance Track ahead of the summit later this year in South Africa.
The meeting of the Framework Working Group will be held virtually on Monday and Tuesday.
On Monday, the focus is on global growth amid supply and demand and inflation risks.
Delegates will also discuss how to position Africa's economic priorities on the agenda.
On Tuesday, they shift focus to priority areas identified by South Africa as President of the bloc.
This is the first of four Framework Working Group meetings planned for the year.
The remaining three meetings will be held in person in April, June and September.
